Our favourite SEF component is now available for Joomla! 1.5!

Sef Advanced SEF Advance 2008 is a component for Joomla! 1.5 which extends its built-in SEF capabilities, eliminating numbers from the URLs, fixing the duplicate content issues present with the built-in URLs, giving you the more logical URL structure and much more.

Features

SEF Advance 2008 features everything you were used to in version for Joomla! 1.0 / Mambo.
Instead of built-in SEF URLs for Joomla! 1.5 which look like:
http://www.site.com/extensions/29-the-cms/26-extensions
you will get URLs without numbers, using more logical structure, independent of the look of your menus:
http://www.site.com/about-joomla/the-cms/extensions/

SEF Advance 2008 will also eliminate duplicate content problems. As you might know, by default, Joomla! 1.5 has different URLs pointing to the same page.

For example, http://www.site.com/features/29-the-cms/22-whats-new-in-15 and http://www.site.com/joomla-overview/what-is-new-in-1-5 both lead to the same page, depending on which menu you used to access it. This will make search engines to consider them different pages with duplicate content, something penalized by decreased page rank.

Using SEF Advance 2008, you will always have the same URL for each page, in this case: http://www.site.com/about-joomla/the-cms/whats-new-in-15/

SEF Advance 2008 will automatically convert all URLs of your Joomla! 1.5 site to new, advanced URLs as you install it. It will also redirect all requests to old-style SEF and non-SEF URLs to corresponding advanced ones.

For example, a request for http://www.site.com/content-layouts/29-the-cms/24-content-layouts and request for http://www.site.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24&Itemid=38 will both be redirected to http://www.site.com/about-joomla/the-cms/content-layouts/ returning the correct header to browser and search engines.
All other features present in SEF Advance 5.5 for Joomla! 1.0 / Mambo, like various options for customizing your URLs, URL alias, custom metadata and custom redirects, are also available in SEF Advance 2008 for Joomla! 1.5.

Performance

SEF Advance is famous by its great performance and stability.
It is the only pure-logic SEF solution for Joomla! CMS. This means that, as opposed to all other SEF components for Joomla!, SEF Advance doesn't store converted URLs in database or anywhere else. It uses its logic to calculate the correct URL each time a page has been requested.

This way, there are no performance downgrades due to slow database connections, no huge quick-filled tables with duplicate entries, no indexing issues, no slowdowns on big sites with much content. There is also an option of disk-caching the URLs at your disposal, should it show to be working faster on your site. For us, the performance of your site is number one priority.

Since the first release of SEF Advance, in November 2003, we have been providing free updates of new versions to all customers. Through years, the new versions brought support for different CMS editions, from Mambo 4.5.0, 4.5.x, 4.6 to Joomla! 1.0, brought many new features and many enhancements and fixes. Some of our customers have been able to download new versions of SEF Advance for over 4 years at no additional cost ever!

Joomla! 1.5, however, is a different story. Changes in this version were so big that it made a whole new CMS platform compared to Joomla! 1.0 / Mambo 4.5.x family. The differences are that huge that there is no upgrade path from Joomla! 1.0 to 1.5 either, only a content migration method.

SEF Advance is a component that deals with the core and its internal way of working in high degree. Making it compatible with Joomla! 1.5 meant a big job of almost writing it all over again. Therefore, this new product is now launched as SEF Advance 2008 for Joomla! 1.5, offered separately from SEF Advance for Joomla! 1.0 / Mambo 4.x, and not as a free upgrade.

What about SEF Advance for Joomla! 1.0 / Mambo?

SEF Advance will continue to be maintained and developed with support for Joomla! 1.0 / Mambo CMS family. All existing customers will still be able to get its updates for free. SEF Advance 2008 will be maintained and developed in parallel with support for Joomla! 1.5.
